Matthew John Jones was born on October 26th 1973 to Diane and Bill Jones. Matthew was born with severe physical and mental disabilities and for most of his precious life required specialist medical care and attention. It was the incredibly high costs of specialist care that propelled Diane and Bill to work tirelessly, ensuring Matthew was always able to have the absolute best care available. This specialist care became more intensive and expensive the older Matthew became. It was in this relentless determination to provide for their son with the best and most nurturing surroundings that led to the establishment of Di Jones Real Estate in 1992. Matthew John Jones passed away in 2008 at the age of 34.

In 2009, Di Jones Real Estate made the decision to establish a foundation in memory and honour of Matthew John Jones; The Matthew Jones foundation.

The foundation hopes to be able to raise money for Warrah, Wairoa and other special needs schools, that the foundation can work in making a difference and ensuring that other special needs students have a life with the school experiences as enriching and varied as Matthew John Jones did.
